I am doing a thesis on a small town in Uttar Pradesh called Miranpur, with a population of approx. 30,000. It was once a very prosperous village; known for it’s small scale industries related to sugar production etc. However, over the years those small scale industries and cottage industries shut down due to lack of government support. Due to this, people began to migrate out of this town to larger cities for work. This somehow has stagnated the development of the town. Currently, it suffers from power shortage amongst other things.
The village has a rich history including 4 lakes around it. I would like to create something that acts as a catalyst for development in the town to revive it. If anyone has any information/ case studies/ examples of similar projects, please let me know. You can mail me at vasudha.mittal@sushantschool.org
